End of Spring Term 2017

Category : Concerts , News

Well, it’s been another fantastic term, and before we crack open the Easter eggs we thought we’d revisit some of our highlights!

To mark the end of term, we returned to the welcoming venue of St Mary’s church for a special concert featuring performances by some of our younger and less experienced students. Lots of hard work went in to the event and the performers delighted a packed audience. We were also excited to be able to give out so many certificates to students progressing in their exams. A big thank you and well done goes out to all involved!

The community and family choir had a busy term preparing for their debut at the Peterborough music festival. The choir had a great morning at the Key Theatre listening to various styles of choirs, and were given a commendation for their own offering, with lots of positive feedback.

Choir runs from 10 to 11 on a Saturday morning, all are welcome!

This term, the HUMS big band performed for the Lions’ Centennial dinner dance, playing a mixture of old favourites and some numbers new to the band, including a fabulous rendition of the classic ‘Feeling Good’ by our singer Claire Hurd (who was actually feeling rather poorly!). We couldn’t film on the night, but here’s a behind the scenes glimpse of the sound check.

Spring term also saw the start of our new, free, music classes for toddler workshops for children aged 4-6. There are stories, songs, rhymes, and all sorts of exciting instruments to discover. Sessions run 11:45-12:15 on Saturdays.

And finally, we welcomed two new tutors to the HUMS family, Jade and Patrick. Due to increased demand we are now looking for more tutors, particularly for piano and singing. Spread the word!

Have a lovely break, remember to practice, and we’ll see you on the 22nd April 2017.
