Introducing Ellie

Ellie Cook

Tuition: Violin
Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Ellie has always been surrounded by music and began violin lessons when she was six. She took part in junior youth workshops with Gwent Music and was involved with their orchestra.

After moving to England in 2010, she began her studies at Hinchingbrooke School, where she studied GCSE music and got an A for her work. Ellie is also involved in extracurricular with the school. She sings in senior choir, supports the lower school choir and leads the string group. She is the leader of the orchestra and takes part in regular performances with the school. She has the opportunity to play the music in “Sweeney Todd” for the school production and was ‘the violinist’ in the production of ‘Bugsey Malone’.

Ellie has grade 8 merit on the violin and grade 5 theory with distinction.

Alongside her academic studies, she joined the Cambridgeshire County Youth Orchestra for two years and was privileged to work alongside conductor Tim Redmond, violinist Lizzie Ball and for a short while, the Britten Sinfonia. Ellie also plays with Huntingdonshire Philharmonic Orchestra and has done so since September 2015. She has worked her way up to the first violins. The opportunity has vastly expanded her repertoire and has allowed her to play music such as Handel’s Messiah, Rachmaninov Symphony No. 2 and many more.

More recently, Ellie has begun her A-level studies and is studying Music. She has also applied for the National Youth Orchestra and is awaiting for a response.
